Read more about Rachel

Rachel is the founder and clinical director at The Emotion Centre Inc. (TEC). Rachel created TEC with the vision of building a team to serve the community with eating disorders and body image issues. This team shares a collective vision of helping people develop meaningful relationships with themselves and others which is integral to recovery.

Rachel’s passion to support individuals with eating disorders came from her own lived experience with an eating disorder as an adolescent. Rachel completed her masters studies with the mission of understanding how to help individuals with eating disorders. She also worked as a therapist in different inpatient and outpatient hospital settings to learn how to support this population. She learned the value of behavioural modification in hospital settings that helped clients with symptom interruption. However, she noticed there was a gap when it came to helping individuals process deeper rooted emotions and unmet needs. She also noticed that many individuals had difficulties creating strong relationships with themselves and others that hindered their recovery.

It was her own journey struggling with an eating disorder while witnessing others not receive the care she knew they needed that drove her to create TEC. TEC is designed to fill the gaps and help individuals recover in a space that understands the nuances of their recovery and relationships. She is happy to say that this vision came true when TEC launched in August 2020.

Rachel transferred the valuable knowledge from the complexities of eating disorders to help support individuals with relationships and mental health issues. Over the last two years, Rachel also has been helping clients navigate the complicated world of online dating and relationships.
