Rachel Oliver MSW, RSW
Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist
Founder
You may find yourself struggling with anxiety, low self-worth, relationship challenges, or feeling disconnected from the life you want. My clients often come to therapy longing to feel grounded, understood, and more confident in who they are. Many also come seeking clarity in their relationships - wanting to understand patterns, build healthier connections, or decide what is truly right for them. Whether you’re facing a transition, carrying past pain, or seeking more fulfilling relationships, my role is to meet you with compassion and honesty as we move at your pace to find clarity, rebuild trust, and create lasting change.
With 13 years of experience in mental health across Canada and internationally, I support individuals (16+) with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, eating concerns, and life transitions. I also specialize in relationship therapy with training in Emotion-Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT), helping couples rebuild trust, closeness, and connection.
I have worked in hospitals, schools, agencies, and private practice, giving me a deep understanding of the challenges people face. My approach is warm, compassionate, and direct - tailored to your needs. Whether you’re seeking clarity as an individual or growth in your relationship, therapy can help you feel less alone. I’d be honoured to walk with you.

About Me
My path into psychology began at the University of Waterloo, where I studied Psychology and worked in social and developmental psychology research labs exploring how people think, feel, and relate. Alongside my studies, I volunteered on crisis lines and facilitated group workshops for individuals living with anxiety. Early in my career, I supported women experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault, offering crisis line support, attending court with survivors, and facilitating groups in prisons. I also helped organize Take Back the Night marches to empower women and advocate for safer communities.
My work has always combined community-based service with clinical training. I’ve supported women and children in Jamaica, helping them build confidence and skills, and worked at Hope Place Addiction Centre for Men, providing therapy and relapse-prevention tools. I later moved to remote First Nations communities in Alberta and British Columbia, where I specialized in play therapy and behavioral therapies for children and families. During this time, I also organized art groups for children in the community and provided art lessons for adults, blending creativity with therapeutic connection. While living out West, I completed Levels 1–3 in Play Therapy, trained in Theraplay (an attachment-based approach), Solution-Focused Therapy, and received Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) training through the Beck Institute.
After completing my Master’s degree in Social Work, I trained in more specialized clinical settings:
CAMH (Forensics Unit): working with individuals navigating forensic and mental health challenges.
Humber College: supporting students with anxiety, relationships, and life transitions, where I trained in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) under Anita Federici, PhD.
Homewood Health Centre: inpatient eating disorder program, where I co-facilitated meals, ran groups, and helped clients heal their relationship with food and body image. I trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) (Resick, Monson, & Chard), and applied CBT for eating disorders and body image.
Oakville Hospital Eating Disorder Program: where I trained in Family-Based Treatment (FBT) for eating disorders with the founders Dr. James Lock and Dr. Daniel Le Grange.
Since 2020, I’ve been in private practice, where I integrate everything I’ve learned across 13+ years into a relational, emotion-focused approach. For five years, I received weekly supervision in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Emotion-Focused Skills Training (EFST) with Dr. Joanne Dolhanty. I’ve completed Levels 1 & 2 in EFT and Level 1 in EFT for Couples, and I am currently completing Level 1 & 2 in the Gottman Method to deepen my couples therapy work.
My Approach
I specialize in helping people:
Build confidence and self-esteem
Heal anxiety and body image struggles
Clarify life direction and purpose
Connect with their grounded, empowered “wisest self”
Develop healthier, more fulfilling relationships
For couples, I focus on:
Building secure emotional bonds
Improving communication and conflict resolution
Restoring trust and intimacy
Creating a shared vision for a fulfilling life together
My approach draws most strongly on Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), which reaches the deeper roots of patterns and emotions, while integrating evidence-based practices from CBT, DBT, ACT, Positive Psychology, and attachment-based therapies. My goal is to support transformation at both levels: deep emotional healing and practical skill-building.
